Nortek completes the manufacture of a large project for five MAGCLEAN magnetic separators
After several months of planning, design, and manufacturing, Nortek completes a large order for five magnetic separation oil filtration units requested by a major customer in the American steel industry.
What is a magnetic separator?
A magnetic separator is a device designed to separate ferrous metal particles present in industrial oils, using the force of magnetism as its operating principle. This equipment incorporates high-intensity magnets that attract and retain chips, filings, and other metallic contaminants circulating within the lubricating fluid. In this way, they keep the oil clean for longer, preventing premature wear of critical components and improving the efficiency of lubrication systems.
In addition to their simplicity and reliability, magnetic separators stand out as a passive solution, meaning they do not require high energy consumption or complex maintenance. Their installation in return lines or at strategic points in the system helps reduce mechanical failures, increase the service life of pumps, valves, and actuators, and optimize operating costs. The scale of the project
The project consists of manufacturing five industrial magnetic separators, available in two different sizes and designed to operate as a block.
They are specifically designed to adapt to the different flow rates and contamination levels present in the customer’s operation. Each unit was developed under a comprehensive engineering process, which included the mechanical design of the tank, the selection of high-intensity magnets, hydraulic sizing, the complete manufacture of the structure, and the integration of its own independent electrical cabinet, responsible for monitoring and controlling the equipment. This approach ensures that each separator arrives ready to be installed and operated autonomously, guaranteeing maximum efficiency in the retention of ferrous particles and a significant improvement in the reliability of the customer’s lubrication system.
