Master welding class at NORTEK with students from Centro San Valero

A group of twenty-five students in the mid-level welding and metal manufacturing training program at Centro San Valero visited NORTEK to learn the company’s internal workings and have a first experience of soldering in our workshop. Throughout the day, students were taken on a guided tour of our production plant, had a meeting with management to share concerns about their entry into the labour market, and received intensive training by our Quality Manager on welding quality requirements under ISO standard 3834-3.

To round-off the experience, once in the workshop, our visitors (supervised by our four welding experts) practiced for one hour on actual specimens. In addition, they had the opportunity to engage with our technicians about the importance of quality and approvals in the welding process. NORTEK attaches utmost importance to welding quality. We therefore continue to plan investments aimed at the improvement of (i) our professionals’ training, (ii) working conditions (machinery, tools…) in our boilermaking workshop and (iii) documentation procedures that allow us to maintain approval according to Euronorm and ASME IX, in addition to the aforementioned ISO 3834-3 certification.

For NORTEK, this meeting was a special opportunity to consolidate our ties with a key training center in our region, and to respond to students’ questions and professional concerns. Our Quality Policy states that one of NORTEK’s objectives is to “provide a significant contribution to the industrial, economic and social context in which it is inserted”. That is why, among other initiatives, our company has signed partnership agreements with several educational institutes (including San Valero) to host trainees and encourage engagement pathways. Similarly, we are strengthening our relationship with the University of Zaragoza’s Department of Technology of Materials and Fluids so as to develop proposals for training programs related to our R&D projects.
