NORTEK will supply lubrication solutions to the new extension of the Charter Steel bar mill in Cleveland

Over 2018, NORTEK will supply all lubrication systems (in addition to various components of the contact water system) to Primetals Technologies for the new expansion of the Charter Steel lamination bar mill in Cleveland (United States). This improvement at the facility will involve the addition of two six-box KOCKS blocks, for which NORTEK will design and manufacture:

In 1995, we approached the comprehensive project for providing Charter Cleveland bar mill with lubrication solutions. Since then, we have worked continuously as providers of this plant’s systems.

This lamination mill is very significant as part of NORTEK’s history, since it was the first lubrication project in which our company directly collaborated with Morgan Construction Co. (today part of the Primetals group). At that time (1995), two systems for gear boxes were supplied: a master for the NTM block system and a system for reducers. The installation was a complete success in terms of design and reliability, as well as savings. This allowed NORTEK to become Morgan’s sole supplier for lubrication equipment and gradually expand its level of technological collaboration with this leading company in the steel sector, including the development of joint patents.

Charter Cleveland’s expansion is only one of the many projects aimed at the primary metals sector to which NORTEK will remain committed throughout 2018. We want to continue being the major supplier of complex lubrication and fluid projects in this field and, for this reason, some of our strategic research, development and innovation lines for the next three years will focus on the optimization of our tanks and systems to pursue even more reliability at a lower cost, and a better understanding of the mechanical and thermal behavior of the fluid within them.
